Colleen, a close friend and incidentally my very efficient realtor in Raleigh, NC, telephoned me at the beginning of 2013 and said, “Jennings, I’m getting married and I know this is last minute for a June wedding, but I want you to be my photographer!” I had a second to ponder, but said “Yes!” with no reservations.
There is a little background on Colleen and Kelly, her new husband. When I got married in June of 2010, Colleen attended my wedding in NC. She came with a group of my other Raleigh girlfriends as a single gal, but had JUST been on a date with “Kelly!” She was all smiles the entire wedding weekend talking to everyone about this really sweet guy she had just met. We were all so excited for her! Fast forward three years later and they were planning a wedding for the same weekend of our wedding in 2010! I loved being a tiny part of their story, and now to be their photographer was even more special! Colleen has waited for a prince charming and has found him to be just that! For you Tarheel fans, you may recognize him as #19 UNC Quarterback, Sain. He is a “go with the flow,” patient, friendly, warm guy. His face just lights up when he sees Colleen. They are a perfect balance for each other!
Palmetto Bluff is one of the most beautiful places to shoot a wedding. It is on the coast of SC in a small town called Bluffton. I remember hearing about the movie stars, like Jennifer Aniston, and some others visiting this low country resort. The air is extremely fresh and everywhere you turn there is spanish moss, green grass and leaves. It just makes you feel like you are on another planet!
Colleen and her mother planned this destination wedding from NC and it turned out spectacularly! The beautiful chapel just opens up with the light streaming in through the tall windows. The proximity of everything in the resort makes it very convenient: you literally walk from corner to corner to get where you need to go! A light shower before the ceremony just freshened the air of the comfortable 80- degree June day. The bright and vivid colors of the flower arrangements brought a pop of color to the ballroom at the Inn at Palmetto Bluff, where the reception was held.
Colleen and Kelly we can always think of our anniversaries with wonderful memories!
