This past August sure was a wet one! Once again we were faced with a rainy start to the day when we shot the beautiful wedding of Kate and Marshall at Pawleys Plantation on Pawleys Island, SC. Forty-five minutes before the wedding started, just as guests were beginning to arrive, the skies opened up and it poured! Although getting in was a challenge, we were all thankful for an indoor ceremony at Belin Memorial United Methodist Church. But despite the downpour during the ceremony, as everyone was leaving the church the skies began to clear and a rainbow appeared over the marsh!
There were so many special moments during Kate and Marshall’s wedding day! The images are what you look back on in years to come and remember how you were feeling at these exact moments. One of my favorite moments of all times is when the father of the bride sees his daughter for the first time in her wedding gown. Kate’s father, Joe, had a perfect reaction as he saw his beautiful daughter! Kate herself was trying to hold back the tears during this special moment. In all the excitement of walking Kate down the aisle and giving her hand to Marshall, Joe forgot to kiss her! Luckily he was able to give Kate that kiss as the family celebrated just after the ceremony. Marshall on the other hand was a little premature with his kiss and the congregation all laughed as Kate immediately pushed him away. Fortunately Marshall was a good sport about the rejection and laughed right along with them!
Kate and Marshall celebrated with lots of dancing at the reception as did everyone else! Everyone had a ball! Instead of throwing her bouquet to the single ladies Kate invited all of the married couples onto the dance floor. As the band called out different years of marriage the number of couples dwindled. By the end of the song the “bride” who received the bouquet had been married to her husband for over 45 years!
These are just a few of the moments I hope Kate and Marshall never forget! Thank you to Kate and Marshall and your wonderful families for allowing me to capture all the excitement of both your engagement session and your wedding!
And a very special thanks to BJ for helping me as my second shooter!
