Catherine and Tate were married in the beautiful beach town of Pawleys Island, South Carolina. Initially, Catherine and I knew each other through her sister Molly, as we went to high school and college together. Catherine and I both lived in Raleigh, NC at the same time. We hung out as two single girls do on week nights, going to dinner and talking about boys over a glass of wine. I distinctly remember when I got engaged to my husband Brennen, I told Catherine I was moving to Charleston. She wondered if she would ever find “the one” and get married.
For me it was so fantastic and meaningful that I got to see Catherine the happiest I have ever seen her, on her wedding day, and also capture it as a photographer. She DID find “the one”- it’s Tate!
Catherine really wanted a “First Look” with her dad, so that the emotion on both of their faces was captured when they saw each other before he gave his daughter away. Hamp, her father, has THE sweetest personality, and LOVES his daughters so much. He wins the “Father of the Bride” award this year!
Small, meaningful details occurred throughout the wedding day: Catherine gave Tate monogrammed cufflinks for his wedding gift, the crazy fun socks the groomsmen and fathers wore, the Bourbon bar everyone was wild about, and the Ice Cream Bar (Tate’s mother grew up on a dairy farm), were special to each family at the reception. My most favorite of all, was the tradition of the groom drinking Champagne out of the bride’s baby shoe! This tradition has been carried down from the Bride’s mother, Mimi, and her sister, Molly. It is such a fun way to welcome the groom into the family!!! Catherine and Tate were made for each other, the two were so in sync that they even had similar dance moves!
When I heard Catherine had gotten engaged, I immediately hoped I would be her photographer! The Hunter family is such a wonderful loving family and always so much fun as you will see from the pictures. I loved meeting Tate’s family as well. Thank you Catherine & Tate for having me as a friend and photographer-my Proud Mary opportunity will never be forgotten! Thank you to BJ for assisting me as my second shooter!
